PHPFusion Network

PHPFusion IRC Channel
Howdy Ladies and Gentlemen, This is just to serve as a friendly reminder that we here at PHP Fusion do have a little spot on the freenode irc network. If you have your own IRC client you can connect by going to /server irc.freenode.com. If however you don't have your own IRC Client there is a java client located on the left side of our site that will allow you to come and see us in our IRC Channel. This Channel is generally for quick questions regarding modifications, or assistance with general functions related to PHP Fusion like installation or the software and basic troubleshooting. Myself and a few others are generally idling in the channel, so speak up, if we don't answer right away just know we do check the channel often so will see your question. Regards, Your IRC Support Staff Posted by mpkossen on behalf of Daywalker.

phpfusion-mods.com is now mods.php-fusion.co.uk
Due to very unfortunate events, the domain phpfusion-mods.com is currently not functional any more and we have no idea when it will be again. We therefore decided to put the website that was under phpfusion-mods.com on the mods.php-fusion.co.uk domain. phpfusion-mods.com, once functional again, will go here as well. From now on you can reach phpfusion-mods.com at mods.php-fusion.co.uk. No data has been lost or compromised: this is a domain-only issue.

Server outage
Hi all! First of all my best wishes for 2010 to everyone! This morning (January 6th, 0730 GMT) all PHPFusion web sites suffered from a very unfortunate outage at our hosting provider. According to NetworkRedux, the server hardware became unresponsive, and a reboot was initiated. Everything appears to be resolved and running smoothly now. No data has been lost. I would like to offer my apologies for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your continued support to PHPFusion! Update: some issues with the kernel of the host of our server were discovered and NetworkRedux was forced to patch them immediately due to the instability of the kernel. This has resulted in two more outages last night (January 6h, 2330 GMT), for which once more I would like to offer my apologies.

New host
PHPFusion and all it's associated web sites have today been moved to a new host. The transfer has been successful and everything seems to run smoothly. Since you're reading this message, the domain name change has been propagated by your ISP. If you are having any trouble, please don't hesitate to PM mistermartin75 or another administrator.

phpfusion-mods.com
We are sorry that phpfusion-mods.com has been unreachable for a while - but I am pleased to inform that we have now changed the DNS records to a new server. It will take some time for the DNS to update - so the site will remain unreachable for 24 to 72 hours. Thank you for your patience - we will be back soon!

Upcoming changes!
As a part of the ongoing reorganisation and restructuring work that has been going on for ages behind the scenes here, we've come to a couple of conclusions. 1: We need to move our sites to a new host, we've experienced some downtime and other problems and we feel we must have a very solid server solution in order to be able to continue with the development of this software. This will inevitably mean some downtime while DNS servers update, downtime starting at 07:00 GMT Tuesday (October 27), 0800:00 CET. We do apologize for this inconvenience, but it can not be avoided, hopefully the DNS servers will update within 24 hrs. 2: Management Team has also decided to merge our three main sites, this one, the MOD site and the Theme site into one single main site with one login for all users and crew. This will take place after we've moved our sites, we will certainly experience some data losses, even some confusion initially but in a longer perspective it is the sensible thing to do, today every user must log on to multiple sites, as well as crew and we quite simply need to focus our efforts and make this project more easy to grasp for everyone, which we will achieve with a merger of the three main sites. However, the merger of the sites will take some time, for which I hope you will have patience with us. Stay tuned for more news later, there's more things cooking! Finally we'd like to thank Sheldon King and Andrew Gai for the time they have hosted us, had patience with us all during some really hard times. All of their efforts, generosity and hard work have meant that we've been able to carry on for this long, thanks a lot fellas. Influensa update! Due to the fact that our staff responsible for migrating the sites have fallen hastily ill with a bad case of flu, this migration have been postponed until they recover some. Sorry for the delay, but there's nothing much to do about the flu, sadly!

PHP Fusion MODDB is down.
Update of the update: MODDB is down again and we're trying to get a hold of the people responsible for that domain who can fix it. Needless to say we cannot have this situation with hosting anymore and we're looking for a rock solid host where we can have our sites transferred to. Details on that will follow as soon as we get them. KEFF Update (mistermartin75): We've managed to fix the problems surrounding the ModDB. There was an unfortunate issue with a host transfer and a domain name. Everything should be working again. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are taking measures to prevent this from happening again. MODDB has been down today for unknown reasons, we're looking into the matter and will brief you as soon as we know what has happened. I hope that you will have patience with this and please check this site for further information. Edit from Sheldon: Sorry folks, I have been away on business. I have emailed the appropriate personnel and they are working on it. Personally, I think I forgot to renew the domain!

New admin
Due to the increasing amount of spam, signature spamming etc, we've decided to appoint our moderator HobbyMan to administrator on this site. No warnings, no fretting about, if you spam in any way, shape or form in here, you're gone without mercy. It simply is too timeconsuming to deal with this, hence the somewhat harsher attitude towards spam.

MODDB temporarily suspended.
As some of you may have noticed PHPFusion MOD's is temporarily shut down. This is due to suspected malicious code somewhere on that site, which is being checked right now. The server load went up very high, but as far as we can tell it hasn't been any other complications, but we must shut the site down while investigating it. And since it's quite a vast site, it does take some time to look through it, the logfiles for that site is enormous and require a lot of hard work in order to find out what has happened. The site will be back online as soon as we have discovered and fixed what's causing it to rush the server load. I ask for your understanding while we investigate this matter. Added Jun 11th: mod site up again...

Our IRC Channel and Support
I just wanted to make a quick news item to ask people not to just join ask a question and after not more than a minute has passed with no response leave. It doesnt give us a chance to help you. Instead, ask your question as soon as you get in and stay as long as you can. I myself check the IRC Channel quite often on a daily basis. A few others do as well, but we're not just hovering over the channel waiting for people to show up and ask us questions. We have other things to do as well. So if you dont get a response right away, just be patient and wait. We will answer your questions to the best of our abilities, but you have to be fair and give us the time to even see your question. Update: Profanity of any type will not be tolerated by this irc moderator. If you use foul language in the channel, I'll make certain you don't utilize it again. Thanks guys.

DNS issues for Europe and North America
There have been reports of users from Europe not being able to access the PHPFusion Network sites located in the US. With further investigation it seems some of the main DNS servers in Europe have not properly updated the DNS information for the server. To correct this try using OpenDNS.com's free and public DNS servers. Or you could simply call your ISP and have them update their DNS records. DNS issues reports are starting to come in from North America. We are researching this issue further and have opened a ticket with our datacenter as there doesnt seem to be any issues on our end. Please stand by. Update: It appears that within 24 to 48 hours most issues from city's that were affected have now been resolved. This is probably due to ISP dns CACHE servers. If the issues do not automatically resolve themselves within the next 48 hours please click readmore for further instructions. Cheers!

PHP Fusion Network returns
After a Christmas without service, the PHP Fusion Network has returned to service after being hacked by a Lithuanian member of php-fusion.lt. Those of you who visited any of the UK sites on Christmas Day will have seen a message demanding a number of things. We would like to emphasise that we have nothing against Lithuania or its people, but we cannot endorse a support team that acts in such a manner which threatens to damage the reputation of PHPFusion. Regarding the nature of the attack, I would like to stress that this latest attack had nothing to do with any exploit in PHPFusion but a server issue which Sheldon has now rectified. We remain fully committed to providing the best possible service and CMS to our incredibly supportive community. Happy New Year!
