Domain Transfers

You can move a domain to another PHPFusion account using the new accounts transfer-in option.

Once the domain is completely moved to another account, the new account holder becomes responsible for all the payments regarding the domain.

Some things that should be considered before a domain move,

1. You must wait for 60 days to move a domain to another PHPFusion account, either from the moment of registration or previous transfer.

2. The domain ownership change is final and we will not be able to reverse it. If you need the domain back, please contact the new owner in this regard.

3. It is not possible to move expired domain names between PHPFusion accounts. They should be renewed first.

Standard transfer requirements which are true for all gTLDs and for the majority of ccTLDs are not applicable to .UK:

1, .UK domains can be transferred within 60 days after registration or a previous transfer;
2, .UK domains do NOT support Transfer Lock;
3, .UK domains do NOT support Auth/EPP code;

To transfer your .UK domain to PHPFusion, you need to change its IPS tag to NETEARTHONE at the current registrar (you may do it either in your account with them or by contacting their support) and purchase the transfer at PHPFusion.

.UK transfers are free of charge and do not include domain renewal.

A domain transfer refers to the process of changing the designated registrar of a domain name.
Once a transfer has been made, the new registrar will maintain all relevant information regarding the domain and the registrant.
Domain names may be transferred only if they have been registered with the previous registrar for 60 days or more .

Theft Protection (Registrar Lock) is a safety feature that prevents unauthorized domain transfers. By default, this feature is enabled for all your domains.

If you are transferring your domains to PHPFusion, you may find instructions on how to release Theft Protection/Registrar Lock with your current registrar.

If you wish to transfer your domain from PHPFusion to another registrar, please see instructions on how to release the Theft Protection/Registrar Lock on your domain. This must be done before placing a transfer request with a new registrar.

A domain authorization code (also referred to as an Auth Code or an EPP Code) provides an extra level of security for the domain name registration. This code is unique to each domain name and is assigned by the registrar at the time of registration.

You will need an Auth Code to transfer a domain from one registrar to another.
Specifically, Auth/EPP codes are required for .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz, .info, .me, .co, .io, .ca, .tv, .in, .mobi, .cc, .pe, .com.pe, .net.pe, .org.pe,.tech, .top, .party, .loan, .faith and other new gTLD/country code TLD domain transfers.

Learn how to get an Auth Code from your registrar in the Transfer-domain-in chapter.

Transferring out?
We're sorry to hear that! Of course, we'd love for you to reconsider and we'll do all we can to make things right.

Domain transfers can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 days to complete.
The exact time-frame depends on the domain’s TLD and the time required for your current registrar to complete the process.

Here are the steps to transfer a domain to PHPFusion,

1. Verify that your domain is eligible for transfer

Before initiating the transfer, make sure your domain qualifies for it.
Here are the standard requirements for most domains, including all gTLDs (e.g., .COM / .NET / .ORG etc.), new gTLDs (e.g., .BID / .CLUB / .TRADE / .TECH etc.) and some ccTLDs (.TV / .ME / .CO etc.),

The domain must have been registered or transferred at least 60 days ago.
The domain must be unlocked at the current registrar (its Whois status should read OK or Active).
Some ccTLDs (.ES / .UK / .IO TLD, etc.) have additional transfer requirements and/or exclude some points from the list above.
Please check the specific transfer requirements for your TLD here

2. Order the transfer

After verifying that your domain name meets all transfer requirements, feel free to purchase the transfer at PHPFusion.
For this, follow the steps below,

1, Sign into your PHPFusion account and go to the Transfer page
2, Enter your domain name in the search bar, select correct extension and click “Transfer”.
3, Verify that your domain is prepared for the transfer and check boxes next to the corresponding fields.
4, Provide the Auth/EPP code.
5, Check out using your preferred payment method.

Shortly afterwards, the transfer will be initiated at the Registry level and the domain will acquire "pendingTransfer" status.
Your previous registrar should release the domain within up to 5-7 calendar days.
If they do not take any actions within this period, the transfer will be approved automatically.
You may also check with them if it is possible to speed up outgoing transfers with them.

When the transfer is over, you will receive a corresponding notification to the email address associated with your PHPFusion account. Depending on a TLD, the domain will be renewed for one year and its status will automatically be set to 'clientTransferProhibited' (that is, the transfer Lock will be enabled).

NOTE 1: Please remember that a domain transfer does not imply automatic DNS change. The nameservers for your domain will remain the same after the transfer and are not automatically changed to PHPFusion DNS. If your domain is using the default DNS of your previous registrar, they will delete the domain from their DNS zone shortly after the transfer completion which will result in downtime of your website and/or email.
To learn how to minimize the downtime, review the information in this article.
If instead you are using third-party nameservers, i.e. the ones provided by your host, there should be no interruption to your services.

Additionally, be aware that once a domain transfer is initiated, it won't be possible to update the domain's nameservers.
If you need to perform any urgent DNS changes, make sure to do it before the transfer starts. Otherwise, you will be able to do it only upon the transfer completion.

NOTE 2: If your domain expired with your previous registrar, and you've reactivated it (renewed after expiration) with them, please do not transfer it within 45 days of the previous expiration date.

According to ICANN, the domain will be renewed for 1 year by the new registrar, but the reactivation year added to your domain by the previous registrar will be revoked.
You may also lose renewal fees paid to the previous registrar.
Check more information here.

Before purchasing the transfer of any gTLD (e.g., .COM / .NET / .ORG / .BIZ / .INFO etc.) or new gTLD (e.g. .CLUB / .CLOUD / .TRADE / .TOP etc.).

Make sure your domain meets the following conditions,

1, Your domain was registered or transferred at least 60 days ago.
2, The domain is unlocked at the current Registrar.

Also, you need to request an up-to-date Auth/EPPcode for the domain at your current Registrar.

If all criteria are met, you should be able to complete the transfer successfully.

Still, some ccTLDs (.ES and .UK) have additional transfer requirements and/or exclude some points from the list above.

You may check specific guides for your TLD here:

.UK / .CO.UK / .ORG.UK / .ME.UK transfers to PHPFusion
.ES / .COM.ES / .ORG.ES / .NOM.ES transfers to PHPFusion

NOTE: Make sure the domain status is active, not expired.

.ES domains do not support the 60-day transfer lock period, generic transfer lock and do not require Auth/EPP codes to be processed.

Still, the transfer should be approved via the Transfer Approval email which is sent by the .ES registry (NIC.ES). This email is sent to the Admin contact listed in Whois for the domain and should be responded to within 10 days after the transfer submission.

.ES domain transfers are free of charge and such domains are not renewed during the process if the domain has more than 90 days till its expiry.

The domain transfer process itself does not cause any downtime.
Downtime happens only after the transfer is completed and only if the domain is using the default nameservers of your Registrar.

To outline the matter in greater detail,

The nameservers of the domain will not be changed automatically after the transfer; the domain will stay pointed to the same nameservers to which it was pointed before the process. So, if the nameservers of your domain continue to function after the domain is transferred away from your old Registrar, you are all set – there will be no downtime in this case.

Listed below are the types of nameserves that will continue to function after the domain transfer:

Hosting nameservers
These are the nameservers of your hosting company (if you have hosting with a different company than your Registrar).

These can also be the nameservers of your Registrar’s hosting service.

For example, if your domain is using PHPFusion hosting then we need your domain to be pointing to one of PHPFusion hosting nameservers,
European Server : eu1.phpfusion.com and eu2.phpfusion.com, US Server us1.phpfusion.com and Asia Server : us2.phpfusion.com or as1.phpfusion.com and as2.phpfusion.com, there will not be any downtime during your domain’s transfer.

Private nameservers
Private nameservers, also referred to as to self-hosted nameservers, are nameservers that are hosted by you on your own hosting server.
For example, if you have the domain example.com and have nameservers ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com, there will not be any downtime during transfer for any of your domains that are pointed to these private nameservers.

CDN nameservers/nameservers with third-party providers
There are some companies that provide nameservers as a separate service, like Google DNS or any PremiumDNS service, for example.
If you have your domain registered with one company and use nameservers of another company, there will not be any downtime during transfer.

In all three of the above cases, there will not be any downtime for domain-based services and you will not need to re-configure any settings after the transfer.

NOTE: We recommend that you have your domain pointed to the nameservers of your hosting provider, if they have them.

Still, there may be downtime if the domain is pointed to the default nameservers of your current Registrar.

Default nameservers are a kind of added service to your domain.
Your Registrar provides you access to these default nameservers as long as your domain is registered with them.
Once your domain leaves their system, access to the old Registrar’s default nameservers will be revoked for that domain.

So if your domain is using your current Registrar’s default nameservers, they will stop working after the transfer and your website will become unreachable.

If you are unsure whether your nameservers are default or hosting, we strongly advise that you check with your current Registrar to see if the nameservers will continue to function for your domain after transfer.
If they continue to function, then there’s no need to worry about downtime and you will not need to re-configure any settings after the transfer.

If your domain is using default nameservers, but the downtime is not critical for you, you may complete the transfer and re-configure the DNS setting afterwards.

However, if your domain is using default nameservers and it is critical for you to have the least possible downtime, please follow the instructions below:

How to reduce this downtime?
Before transferring your domain to PHPFusion, you need to set up for our nameservers,
On your current registrar change Nameservers to ns1.phpfusion.com and ns2.phpfusion.com before initiating the transfer.

If you receive this message in your cancellation notice, first make sure that you entered the Auth code correctly.
Please mind that Auth/EPP codes are case-sensitive and may include all special symbols and characters.

If everything seems to be correct,
Please contact current registrar to obtain a new and correct key and then contact PHPFusion support via a Ticket - Other and we will sort the issue out on a Registrar level.

An Authorization/EPP code is a transfer security measure, which protects your rights as a domain owner.
This code is required when transferring .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz, .info, .me, .co, .io, .ca, .tv, .in, .mobi, .cc, .pe, .com.pe, .net.pe, .org.pe,.tech, .top, .party, .loan, .faith and other new gTLD domain names.

There are one way to enter the Auth/EPP code when transferring your domain,

Add domain to the cart and paste the code into the dedicated field when prompted.
Domain transfers cannot proceed until we receive the Auth/EPP code for your domain name.

For security reasons, Auth/EPP codes are periodically updated by the Registrar.
In some cases, these updates may not be immediately reflected in the Registry database.
If you entered the correct code and the transfer failed with this status, the Auth/EPP code held by your current Registrar may not be in sync with the the code at the Registry.
In this case, you must request that your current Registrar synchronizes the code with the Registry.
Once you have the new Auth/EPP code, go to Domains - Transfer page to submit the new transfer.

In case of transfer failure, a full refund will be issued to your account balance.
Once all modifications are made and the domain name is prepared for transfer, you may resubmit the transfer atDomains - Transfer page .

If you paid for the transfer with a credit card or PayPal and no longer wish to transfer your domain, our Support Team will gladly assist in refunding your payment to the initial source of payment.

Theft / Registrar Lock is a security feature that prevents unauthorized or unintended domain transfers. In most cases,
Registrar Lock is enabled by default, so first thing it must be disabled on the side of your current Registrar.

You have to wait at least 60 days from the registration date before transferring your domain. Additionally, domains cannot be transferred within a 60-day period after previous transfer (ICANN's 'Policy on Transfer of Registrations Between Registrars').

If your domain transfer has failed due to this error, please make sure that,

The domain was not created or transferred within past 60 days;
Registrar Lock is disabled. Domain status in WHOIS should be changed from ‘ClientTransferProhibited’ to ‘OK’.

Once you have confirmed the above criteria, go to Domains - Transfer page to resubmit the transfer..

You cannot start the transfer process for a domain if there is already a pending transfer order in our system.

If there is a pending transfer currently in your PHPFusion account, you must wait until that transfer is completed before starting the transfer process again. Otherwise, you may contact PHPFusion support and request to cancel the current transfer.

If your domain transfer failed with this status, the domain may already be registered with PHPFusion and may currently reside in another PHPFusion account, in which case it cannot be involved in the transfer process.

To move a domain between PHPFusion accounts, you may use the ‘Change ownership’ option instead of transfer.

This status means that the domain transfer was rejected by the current Registrar. This can occur if the domain does not meet the requirements/conditions of your current Registrar or those specified in ICANN's Policy on Transfer of Registrations Between Registrars.
Before placing a new transfer order, we suggest you contact your current Registrar to find out the reason your transfer request was denied.

Common examples of reasons for transfer denial:

Evidence of fraud
UDRP action
Court order by a court of competent jurisdiction
Reasonable dispute over the identity of the Registered Name Holder or Administrative Contact
Non-payment for previous registration period (including credit card charge-backs)
Explicit objection to the transfer by the authorized Transfer Contact
Transfer requested within 60 days of the creation/previous transfer date as shown in the registry WHOIS record for the domain name.

Keep in mind that for a domain to be transferred successfully, the following conditions must apply:

It has been more than 60 days since the initial domain registration or the previous transfer date.
The domain is unlocked with the current Registrar (Registrar Lock is disabled).

You cannot transfer a domain name that is not registered.
Please double-check the spelling and extension of the domain name you’d like to transfer.

Otherwise, you may register the domain name with PHPFusion.

If your domain transfer has failed for this reason, it means the domain is currently involved in the transfer process with another Registrar. Please double-check the spelling and TLD of the domain name for which you are submitting the transfer.

If you have verified that the domain is spelled correctly and is not involved in another transfer, but still continue receiving this error message, please Submit a Ticket - Other. We are always happy to assist you.

This error often occurs when transferring a .UK domain name. It means that the transfer was submitted but the domain’s IPS Tag was not changed to NETEARTHONE.
An IPS tag applies to each .UK domain and is required in transferring a domain name from one Registrar to another.
To correct this, contact your current Registrar and request that they change the IPS Tag for the domain name to NETEARTHONE.

You may then submit a new transfer order. If you submit a transfer request before IPS tag is changed, the domain must be re-tagged within 7 days, otherwise the transfer will fail automatically.

General transfer time-frames are as follows,

If the transfer is submitted before IPS tag has been changed, the transfer will be processed within 7 days of the IPS tag change.
If the transfer is submitted with NETEARTHONE as the IPS tag, the transfer will be processed and the domain should appear in your Namecheap account within 24 hours of transfer submission.

Before starting the transfer process, make sure you have completed the following steps:

Allow at least 60 days from domain registration or previous transfer,

Unlock the domain for transfer. This may be done by releasing Registrar Lock;
Ensure the domain’s Auth/EPP code from the current Registrar is in sync with the Registry (if applicable).

NOTE: Some country-code TLDs are transferred differently. For instance, .UK domains should be re-tagged, and .ES transfer does not have Auth/EPP code.

Once you have completed these requirements, the transfer should proceed smoothly. However, if the transfer fails for any reason, a cancellation notification will be sent to your email address. This email will include general information about errors that occurred in the transfer process, as well as troubleshooting suggestions to implement before attempting the transfer process again.

If you have corrected the errors in your transfer setup and continue to receive cancellation notifications, please contact the Support Team with the details of your transfer. We will investigate the issue and do our best to resolve it for you.
