It is set to never! - The prune forum is only done if you hit the prune button. Threads will not be deleted if you just not click on that button. The prune feature is only used when YOU decide to delete forum threads.

Found my answer here too! Thanks! But an additional question comes to my mind!

What if I prune the forum, will sticky and locked topics also be pruned?? If so there should be an option to exclude posts from pruning. For example a forum FAQ part (not the FAQ via navigation panel) or posts about forum rules must last a lifetime!

Yep, you have a good point there, so maybe someone will have a look on this. I'm not sure but I guess also sticky and locked topics will be pruned.

I have noticed this problem too - I want to delete old threads and posts but leave sticky and locked threads.

I can see how to modify the forum_prune.php to leave the threads
thread_sticky
thread_locked

but to do it correctly we need to join the tables (threads and posts) in the first query so we don't delete posts in a locked thread...

$result = dbquery("SELECT post_id,post_datestamp FROM ".$db_prefix."posts WHERE post_datestamp < $expired");

I don't want to click prune and find out it doesn't :(

As a New user, but a long time Forum owner I'd like to see development of the 'prune' function.

It would be nice to be able to select the forum as well as omit sticky threads from pruning.

Also as it is today, I think the description next to prune needs clarity. I thought at first, that the 'prune' box was a broken drop down menu with additional options. I kept hitting the button and nothing. That makes sense, but is not intuitive.

Anyhow this is so far the best CMS I have tried to date and one I may actually go with.

Regards and thanks for the nice work,
Scott

I agree and we'll certainly look into developing the pruning feature. The v6 forum is showing its age, v7's will be more modern, more features etc.
