home.php error in v. 9.10

While checking the status of some sites we are upgrading to v 9.10, I have noticed a problem on several sites where we originally edited and changed the home.php file that we used on 9.03, however when trying to use that same file in v 9.10, we received the following error.

"Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required 'themes/templates/global/homepage.php' (include_path='.:/opt/alt/php73/usr/share/pear'wink in /xxx.org/fusion/home.php on line 23”

As a result of this error, we have no log in form on our front page for the users or admin. Also the "images and text used for news headlines, that are normally displayed on the front page, are all listed in a single column, instead of in 3 columns, like we used to see in the magazine template.

Most of the news category pages and links seem to work. It is primarily the homepage that is giving us trouble. So, any advice on how to correct this problem, would be appreciated.
Thanks

You just don't have properly updated site. There is no longer homepage.php file in hemes/templates/global/ and home.php was removed as well can be used but you have to fix it yourself.

This is a very common problem, people are editing something and after update they wonder why it doesn't work. If you're editing something, you should know how to fix issues. Also, error literally saying where the problem is.

I personally own 30+ urls and work with over 100 web programs utilizing a large mixture of codes. Since I personally quit writing code back in the early 1980's, I no longer have a good enough memory to work with every code used and updated every few months. That is why I rely on pre-written programs as much as possible.

The reason I originally edited the home.php file was due to instructions given to me by Falk, 9 months ago when we were preparing to move over 12 websites over to php-fusion.

While programs change day to day, the historical data we present on our sites needs to be preserved for many decades, so we need stability in whatever program we use. If tech support is not going to be available when trying to update or fix problems using php-fusion, we will simply move our data over to a different program that will work with designers of various levels.

If you are talking about stability, the latest v9 releases are more stable than old v7 (People think that v7 is still the most stable version..). However, if people are editing core files, then this is really not our problem. And homepage (and everything else) can be easily customized in theme.

Core files should never be modified by users. (Another silly habit from v7..)

If you send me an ftp and a description of what you need to pm, I can help you tomorrow. I can fix these things and do it better.
