Anyone with experience from IIS7 and MSSQL?

Situation:
We have an intranet with IIS7 webserver running on Windows Server Standard 2008. We have an MSSQL db, not MySQL at the moment. We have PHP 5.2.11 installed, and other PHP script installations, CMS-like, work perfectly on this. SMTP must be used, Sendmail is not allowed in this environment, but we are only going to use invited, manually accepted users, for intranet and extranet use. We would like to set up a PHPFusion installation here, as a platform to be able to add additional PHP scripts together with efficient administration of a relatively safe extranet.

Questions:
Is this possible straight out of the box? Is it worth trying?
What do we need to do in order to make it work?

1. It is not possible straight out of the box.
2. Well if you have good PHP knowledge and some time, then you can try
3. In order to use with MSSQL you will need to rewrite every single query, also current stable version of PHPFusion does not support PHP 5.X . There is version of PHPFusion what supports PHP 5.X, but its under development, and it will not support MSSQL.

Thanks very much for the quick and knowledgable response.
I do not know PHP especially well (I can just modify existing code somewhat).
So I will have to downgrade PHP to PHP4?
And install MySQL. Well I can do that.
Or else I setup a virtual LAMP environment on the server, and install it out-of-the box on there.

If you want to use a not supported/unstable version of PHPFusion (7.01.00 SVN version) you can use it with PHP5.

For the latest stable version 7.00.xx, you need PHP4.

Please describe the current status of testing for 7.01, so I can make that judgement.

@Homdax So, if I understand this right: You sold your Mondeo and your wife bought you a Jaguar. Nice deal. Nice wife. Nice car.

well, I am not in the development team, so better ask one of them ;)
You know that you shouldn't use a "unstable" version on a live site... but I got the latest svn version on my local server and everything works well ;p nice work and improvements so far.

Well, this is not an Internet site, and the CMS will be used for very simple tasks, merely as a platform, using the user db and login functions to access a few user pages holding some scripts. If it just handles that in a stable way, then it's worth a go. Where do I get it? (without having to download it file by file).
