URL to your site: insaneidiots.artofwarcentral.com
Version of PHPFusion: v7
Any mods you've made to your site: Can't even install...
Version of PHP: 5.2.6
Version of MySQL: 5.0.51a-community
Have you searched for your problem: (yes/no) yes, EVERYWHERE.
If so, what terms did you try: the error message it gives me upon saying can't connect to the database, php fusion installment, mysql error php fusion
State the nature of your problem: I can't get passed the Config MySql database part, no matter what I do.
Do you have a test account for us how if I can't install it..

it's just that simple, I know how to fill out the setup.php form, but no matter what I do, all hope fails.
I get this error message every time: Error: Unable to establish database connection.
Please verify your MySQL settings.

I would really like to get this resolved.. I'ved done this on multiple webhosts and the same thing happens. I'm a big fan of php fusion, I used it on a different website that I had admin on, and would like to install it for myself. can anyone help me asap? :o

May not apply in your case but remember that not all hosts use "localhost" as the host name for SQL.

Database names also often get a prefix, based on the name of your account...

muscapaul's right. On some servers both the DB name AND DB username need your account name;

DB: a12345_yourdb
DB username: a12345_yourdbusername

I am setting up a new site, and I have the same problem. I tried your recommendations above, and it didn't work for me.

URL to your site: www.rockalily.ca
Version of PHPFusion: Core 7
Any mods you've made to your site: Can't get that far.
Version of PHP: PHP 5
Version of MySQL: MySQL client version: 5.0.92.
Have you searched for your problem: That's how I found this thread.
If so, what terms did you try: php fusion Error: Unable to connect with MySQL.

State the nature of your problem: Error: Unable to connect with MySQL. The specified MySQL database does not exist.

I checked in cpanel, and the username and the host name (rocklily_PHPFusion) are correct...

Do you have a test account for us? Que ça?

...localhost may not be correct - I had thought the same however my original installation was from way back in 2004. Today, I found that the correct setup was actually:

Database Hostname: myispusername.ipowermysql.com

I've noted that often times, when you ask a question in this forum, the answers provided can be very belittling so I'm going to start participating again. Most everyone here is here to learn. If Digi were still around, you would have had a straight answer immediately.

Make sure you have your mysql access details at hand including the hostname, username, password and database name as you will need to specify these during setup.

That is provided by the Host of the site.

We can not second guess what those details should be in every single configuration, but "localhost" is a very common denomination and may be right in many cases.

This does not take away that you should, obviously, have knowledge of the correct information.

Richard is right. If you run setup and comment out step 3 and 4, you can test the connectivoty settings actually.
