Seasons Greetings 2012
On behalf of me and my team of Developers I want to present you all with a serene and firm Seasons Greetings. Lets all hope the Mayan calendar has a bug and that we will live to see yet another year. We may, however, not see a live version 8 within 2012, but we are working on it. Remember that our lives do not circle around PHPFusion only. Illness, tragedies, workload and other real life events affect us all. From all of us, to all of you, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! /Richard

Theme Changes
As our regular visitors will have noticed, the site has undergone a bit of a change. The previous Bifrost theme has been replaced as it was not fully configured to be used in a standard setup. So, the Management Team and I decided that we would revert the site to a more standard setup at the earliest opportunity. This current theme is temporary as a brand new theme is currently under development. Unfortunately, the development of the theme has been delayed so we decided to go ahead and remove Bifrost and use a standard theme instead until such time as the new theme is ready.

Recent Downtime
Apologies for the recent downtime. We are still unsure as to exactly what caused the server outage and are working to ensure that such incidents do not re-occur. Thanks you for your patience.

What's Happening
To to let you know what's happening in the near future with the project. This site is to get a new theme, it's currently being worked on and we'll post more info when it's nearer completion. This theme will be fully standardized and available for download from day one. We will not load it until it's already in downloads. The Dev and Staff sites are going to be merged into one. This is primarily to maintain a clearer focus on what we're doing and where we're going. The ability to interact with the developers and post bug reports, etc will be retained.

New Member in MT
I'm delighted to announce that Matonor has just joined the Management Team. For those of you who don't know, he's the guy who made most of the cool v7 themes and has been a developer with us for many years. I am confident he will be a great addition to the team and we look forward to his input and ideas.

A few Changes
Following the passing away of our founder Nick Jones, there have been some questions over the legal status of the CMS. I'd like to take this opportunity to set the record straight. Under UK law "computer programs" are covered under the copyright legislation as "Literary Works" and as such the copyright will remain under Nick Jones for up to 70 years after his death, to be administered by his estate. What this means is the status of PHPFusion is unchanged, it remains an open source entity copyrighted to Nick Jones managed by the PHPFusion Management Team and as such we will continue as always to protect the copyright and go after violators in the same manner.Read on...

Brave New World
As you can see, the new site is now up and running (for the most part). There are still a couple of sections that need attention, most notably the license application forms for the new licenses. That should be up and running in a couple of days. Have a look around and please report any broken links or bugs. Mods and Theme members, you can now submit your work to the AddonDB. Please note that all work must be fully valid. Once you've made a submission, you can follow it's progress in the AddonDB dashboard. Please be patient as the approval admins get up to speed with the new systems. If you have any questions just ask.

We have upgraded to PHPFusion v7.01
As the final step towards releasing PHPFusion v7.01 we decided to turn our main site in the community's lab rat and upgrade to v7.01 so we can give it a last look before we hand it to you. Play around and tell us what you think and whatever annoyance or error you might find. Enjoy!

Spam Accounts
As some of our regular members may have noticed, we've recently been inundated with spam user accounts. These are accounts with commercial links to various goods and services that are only created to try and get some free advertising. These also include supposed "medical" support sites. We are discussing ways of keeping these guys out without making if difficult for genuine people to register and post. There is a zero tolerance for these kind of accounts and they will be immediately banned and/or blacklisted regardless of whether they post in the forums or not. The staff have enough to be doing without having to check each and every profile link to see if it's on the level. Genuine members have nothing to worry about as long as you don't have www.buymycheesyproducts.com in your profile. The profile link is there for members to show their own site or a helpful resource site for the community. We are not here to make money for people!

SURVEY: Which PHP version are you using?
We are conducting a community survey in order to find out what our members use these days. PHP4 is officially dead for quite a while now and everyone should migrate to PHP5 because of its many advantages in security, performance and features but unfortunately some people are still stuck with PHP4 because of various reasons. We would like to find out how many of you still use PHP4 and if you're using a newer version, which one is it? Please join this thread for details on how to find out the PHP version you are using and don't forget to leave a post in that thread to tell us why are you stuck with PHP4. Thank you in advance for your votes and comments.

Sorry, all you young girls all over the World!
Our Management Team member and ditto leader of our Romanian National Support Site is lost for ever. He is no longer a handsome young bachelor roaming the streets of Bucuresti, making the town unsafe for all the beautiful women there and the reason for this is that he has gotten married to his Petronela. Nicu is still a very handsome young man btw, but his heart and mind is now intertwined with the love of his life, Petronela. And we from MT and crew wish them many happy years to come, plenty of food, drink and a lot of children to raise since they do make a lovely match and hundreds of grandchildren that'll make their lives joyful and rich when they get old, wrinkled and slightly senile. So, dear Nicu and Petronela... have a long and prosperous life ahead, make love and children, and always look after each other. May your life together last a 100 years! And enjoy your honeymoon, toss that computer in the sea! Salut!

PHPFusion Mobile and Update on Chat
Today PHPFusion.co.uk went mobile. While this is not a custom solution provided by PHPFusion it is a very nice and well done solution provided by moFuze. Why mobilize PHPFusion, for you the users of course (no really for myself, but ... hehe) in any case it can be accessed by going to http://m.php-fusion.co.uk on your mobile device. Please note that visiting this site on your PC will show a slightly different page. Check it out On another note, I want to bring up the fact that a lot of users seem to join the chat and then immediately leave if an answer is not provided to the question that was phrased. The staff and other users in the channel are not neccessarily active on the chat 24/7. While we do check it and idle there quite often, please do not expect a response within 30 seconds. We will get to you, but you need to be patient. Why not idle and and stick around for awhile. Get to know the staff and other users. We endeavour to keep improving PHPFusion. Note: We are intending on having a maintenance release ready for early to mid January and will begin work on the next feature set version 7.01.00 mid to late january for a possible (and I stress possible, no guarantees) late spring early summer release! Cheers
