Part A of Fusion Community Restructuring.
Well its the new year and work has begun. Digi and I have been talking about how we should go about things and what needs to be done. First off we need to get the support staff going and getting support back on its feet. With that said the entire Support Team is asked to report in to their new forum which they should have access to (if you didnt already). The new additions to the support team from a few weeks ago(AmyLee, bbene, HaCK3r, Matanor and Yoda) are asked to send me a quick email to sheldon[AT]php-fusion.co.uk With that said the next step is I need a few more dedicated people who are willing to help out at the PHP Fusion Mods site and here as well but primarily be PHP Coders and of course community leaders. I will be accepting proposals to help out via my Fusion email address as stated above. Thats it for now. UPDATE: Dont have many PHP Coding skills? But know PHP Fusion quite well. Apply anyhow! Let me know what you are good at and how well you know this CMS.

New year, new ideas
Hi folks, I hope the new year finds you well I've been working tirelessly over the festive period working on several new ideas and improvements. I'm on a bit of a security awareness streak and have been devising a more secure admin protection system which will see the addition of a 16-character hash which will be required by any admin functions. The admin panel is quite secure as it is, but this new idea should really secure things. I'm working on a lot of the admin panels tidying up a few loose ends and optimising a few areas. I have sliced almost 2 thirds off the Panels admin! Experience does have its good side I've noticed a serious lack of mod approvals over at PHPFusion Mods. This can only be put down to the loss of a key member of our crew, Rayxen, who has got himself a full-time job (which is great of-course). I hope to get things kickstarted within the next few weeks, so please be patient as we get things back in order. I would run the site myself, but my loyalty lies in research and development of the core of PHPFusion. I'll keep you informed of our progress. Cheers.

Merry Christmas
I'd like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. 2005 has been a mixed year for PHPFusion, from the lows of April's copyright conflict to highs of a miraculous recovery. July saw the emergance of a stronger system which has gone from strength to strength. I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone who supported me through those troubled times. Our popularity has reached a grand scale and there's no doubt we'll continue our growth through 2006. All the best!

PHP Fusion UK and Mods Changes
Hi everyone... Alot of you have noticed the lack of support lately, and I apologize for that. The reason is alot of our support staff have become extremely busy due to personal lives and other projects that have come up. The dev crew has taken a major blow due to this and we will be doing some major restructuring this Holiday Season to make up for this. Over the next 2 weeks I will be looking for new support leaders, admins, and leaders for the PHP Fusion Community. I am not asking for people to come forward and tell me they are willing to help out, as I will be singling out certain individuals and asking them myself. What I am looking for specifically are those who know the PHP language very well and those who are "community leaders" and are good with people. So in a nutshell bare with us as we make some changes over the next little while. We havent forgotten you

New support team
Thanks to everyone who offered to join the support team. I'm not going to make any firm decisions yet, basically I'm giving an opportunity to 5 applicants, most of which have been members here for some time. The new support members are AmyLee, bbene, HaCk3R, Matonor and finally Yoda. I apologise if you got overlooked, but of course feel free to help out as I am always observing those who do just in case we need more recruits . Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your help!

CVS Browser complete
Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm pleased to announce the arrival of our new CVS Browser. Now you can view and track all changes to our source code on-line. This addition to the site will provide an easier way for us to document any changes in our files allowing end users to update on the fly (if you wish) without losing those hard coded mods, it will also make bug fixes and other problems to be addressed quicker than ever. I'd like to stress that CVS Browser does not mean we won't continue to release update packs or full downloads. We simply wanted to provide a point of reference which can be used in which ever way you want. I'm sure you will find the CVS Browser to be a very useful addition indeed.

CVS Coming Soon
In the next few weeks I'll be adding a CVS Browser to PHPFusion.co.uk. For those who don't know, a CVS is a means of documenting any changes in code, better known as Version Management. Put simply you will be able to see exactly what changes are being made to our code. I believe the CVS will be an invaluable addition to everyone from developers to general users. Look out for this new feature coming soon!

Newsletter Confusion
If you're subscribed to our newsletter you may have received (or may be receiving) multiple emails. This was caused as a result of testing the bcc ability of PHPMailer. Users are advised not to use any newsletter infusions in v6.00.2 as the new mailer cannot deliver messages accurately. I will work to release a new newsletter infusion for v6.00.2. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Update: Due to a number of complaints our account was temporarily suspended. Everything has been sorted out and that should be the end of the matter. I'm now working to correct the code responsible for this dilemna.

PHP Fusion Reaches 1 Million Unique Hits
Wow! We have reached 1 Million Unique visits! This proves that PHPFusion is going from strength to strength as it heads towards its third full production year. Development began way back in early 2003 under the code name of MyCMS with just a handfull of features. The name PHPFusion was actually inspired by the car I owned in real life, a Ford Fusion (which I still own by the way!). PHPFusion has excelled my ambition in every way I could imagine, although it hasn't all been plain sailing. We all remember events earlier this year that nearly destroyed PHPFusion's reputation, but looking back, that turmoil did me a huge favour. People should not be judged by the mistakes they make, but how they react to their mistakes. PHPFusion 6 marked the return of our beloved CMS after 3 months of code updates. It is only now, 6 months later that PHPFusion 6 is once again getting the recognition it deserves. I believe PHPFusion has brought together a very tightly knitted community of enthusiastic developers, users and such like from all over the world. Quite simply, PHPFusion is very much the people's CMS, and it certainly would not have grown so much without such a fantastic user base. I raise a glass to everyone as I say, Thank you and may PHPFusion continue it's growth and it's course to being amongst the best. Keep it simple, be the best! Cheers!

PHP Fusion Mods - Up or Down?
Some users are currently having difficulty accessing the PHPFusion MODs site. We assure you that this is not a server problem and is most likely due to a poor or broken physical connection between your location and the server. It may be related to Hurricane Katrina, but this cannot be confirmed. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to resolve this, so hopefully the connection will be restored soon. For people interested in helping us trace the problem, read more to see how you can help.Update: The problem seems to have been a connection issue with Level3 one of the major carriers in the United States. If you are still having problems give it a few days and im sure your connection will be restored. Im still blaming Hurricane Katrina!

PHPFusion-Mods.com
With the latest news of the domain phpfusion-mods.com being down I thought I should update everyone with an official response. As it stands the domain has expired, and we never renewed as we had no idea it needed to be renewed. The registrar of the domain was a reseller of OnlineNIC which obviously never sent out a reminder email or turned them off. We have re-registered the domain name and should have it within 24 hours. Update: Normal service has now resumed.

IRC Support
There has not been much activity on our IRC Channel lately. IRC is often the best way to receive fast support and immediate answers to your queries. We encourage all users to connect to the IRC Channel and stay connected to either receive or provide help. Do not be put off if no-one replies straight away, hang around and idle until users come back online. The PHPFusion channel is a great place for both support and a friendly chat. Help us build the PHPFusion community. View this article at PHPFusion Mods for information on how to connect to the IRC Channel.

Road to recovery
Hi all, sorry for not writing sooner, I am still recovering from my surgery. Complications after wards caused a 'hypo' as my blood sugar crashed. Anway, the nursing staff worked tirelessly over night to stabalise my sugar levels. I got home on Monday, but its going to be a few weeks before I will be coding again. I'm aware of a couple of reported vulnerabilities, one concerning the db backups, and another affecting submissions. My advice for the moment is not to leave any backups on your server or password protect your db_backup folder. I'll try to find a more viable solution when I feel better. There's no place like home!
