Domains

All domains registered with us are under the name of the clients ( Your name ).

If you registered your domain with us recently, then maybe the DNS are not propagated completely. The registered domain normally becomes available after 24-48 hours after the registration.
If you have registered the domain with other registrar, you will need to change the DNS with the one’s who provided your domain, and double check that it point to us. Once completed you also need to wait for it to get fully propagated.
DNS propagation usually takes 12-24 hours.

Not at all. You own the Domain Name and thus you can host your website anywhere you choose and still keep your domain registration with us

A domain name represents your "address" on the Internet. It is a written phrase that contains several components separated by a period ("dot").
Internet computers that track and locate each domain name actually use numeric addresses (e.g. 123.123.123.123) , so that within the system each domain name has a numeric equivalent. You don't have to worry about this since Domain Name Servers (DNS) take care of the matching. However, this is the reason why each domain must be assigned to a functioning Domain Name Servers

No we are sorry you do not. If you would like a web site please see our Web Hosting Section.

Anyone trying to establish a presence on the Internet should register a domain name.
Domains can be brands, trademarks, service marks, company names, products, services, family names, your name, organizations, interests, etc.

Like any trade name, logo, or brand name, your domain name represents a part of your business identity - something customers and business associates can recognize, remember, and positively associate with your services or products.

Registering your domain name will at very least prevent someone else from using it.
More important, however, is that with your own use on the Internet it becomes a constant positive reinforcement.

With your own domain name, access on the World Wide Web becomes a simple matter of entering Yourname.com.
No one has to write it down, they remember it.
Similarly, every Email message affirms your name as your address becomes: YourName@YourName.com Simple, elegant, and much more effective than: awesomeme4353535@gmail.noidea

Providing you are not taking some other company's trademark or otherwise infringing on their legal rights, You, the applicant, are the owner of the domain name. PHP-Fusion acts as a service agency only and has no interests in or claims on the name.
The owner (known as the Administrative Contact) has full authority and responsibility for the domain name and its use.

The answer is Yes. But depending on whether you have the proper expertise and equipment.
The rules and format for domain registration are quite specific and certainly complex in all their permutations.
With enough attention you could learn the procedures by yourself. However, the main stumbling block to registering for most people is the requirement that you must have name server computers set up to respond to the domain name for routing.
This refers to the Domain Name Servers (DNS) located all over the Internet which perform the translation back and forth between domain names and their numeric equivalents, called IP (Internet Protocol) addresses.
Without this equipment and capability, the domain name will not be registered.

A Domain name has two parts, with the "top level" domain indicating the broad category of an organization.
For example, names ending in .COM are normally assigned to commercial, .NET normally for general web sites, names ending in .ORG are assigned to non-profit organizations. "Second level" domains represent your specific name, i.e.: yourname. Example being the "php-fusion" in our domain name would represent the second level portion of a domain name. The total length of the two-part domain name may be up to 67 characters (including the .co.uk).
The only characters allowed in a domain name are letters, digits (numerals) and the dash (-). A domain name can not begin or end with a dash. Capitalization (lower or upper cases) is ignored

You should pick a domain name you are comfortable with as your online identity.
Whether it is .com, .net, .info or .org or another extension they all work equally well, but .Com names are the most popular.
It is not uncommon for businesses to register multiple names and variations of desired names (brands, trademarks, service marks)

Yes. Many large companies, particularly in the communications and entertainment industries hold registrations for many domain names covering various trademarks, trade names, or simply variants on their company names

Two character extensions are called country codes and are used for country code designation.
They work the same as the .com .net .info .org.
There are some 240 or so country codes for nations and territories around the world

No, I.C.A.N.N. opened the market to offer the same registrar services Network Solutions (Verisign) provides. Information about who is responsible for domain names is usually publicly available for legal, technical, consumer, trademark and other reasons.
The registrar makes this information available to the public from a WHOIS server.
You can avoid public exposure by purchasing a Domain ID Protection service from supported domains.

Many register a domain name in preparation for setting up a website. They may not have a website now, but they still own the domain name and can wait indefinitely until they are ready to put up a site.

You need your domain secret found in Client Portal under Domains and provide this information to your new registrar where applicable.
Note that transfers won't be authorized unless accounts are up to date.

Once a domain name is registered it cannot be changed. You may register a new name.
The old name will expire at the end of the initial registration period (usually 1 year) if you decide not to keep it.

The EPP code is just a string of text that is used to verify that you are the actual domain owner when you want to transfer your domain to another company.
The company you used to register your domain will have it so all you have to do is email them and ask them to send it to you.
Then when you sign up for web hosting with us and want to transfer your domain, you will be asked to enter it on the sign up form.

NOTE: EPP is also known as Auth Code.

Your domain name is registered immediately, but it can take up to 24-48 hours for a domain name to appear in whois. If you've received confirmation from us, you can be sure that your name has been registered.

In the beginning there were IP addresses - long, cumbersome strings of numbers that represented computers on the Internet.
You had to remember that a string of numbers, such as 199.6.46.3, would take you to a particular website.
In 1984, a system was introduced known as DNS (Domain Name System), which translates easy to remember words and phrases (domain names) into IP addresses, saving us the trouble of memorizing all those numbers.

Domain names are going at the rate of more than 200,000 a month.
Registering your domain name now ensures your ownership of the domain name that may not otherwise be available when you want it.
Once registered, that domain name is yours (provided that the registration and renewal fees are paid each year).
You can hold onto it, use it, sell it or lease it. PHP-Fusion will store your domain name on our servers free of charge until you are ready to do something with it.

PHP-Fusion support over 450 TLDs.
With PHP-Fusion you can register all top TLDs and an abundance of additional extensions, please see our Hosting > Domains for a full list of suported domains and prices.

PHP-Fusion provides a domain name search engine that can instantly tell you whether or not the name is available.
If a domain name is available, you will be given the option to register it.
If a domain name is already registered, we offer alternatives to your requested domain.

Regardless of the extension, all domain names must follow the same character rules... You can use letters (abc), numbers (123) and dashes/hyphens (---). Spaces are not allowed and the domain can't begin or end with a dash.

Very few know about the fact that you can have multiple dashes right next to each other. (e.g. domain--names.com).

In order for an existing domain name to be re-registered by anyone other than the current owner, it must be completely released by the registry.
Unfortunately, at the present time there is not a set schedule for releasing expired domain names.
Most domains are released within a few months of their expiration.

Your registration is submitted via our secure form. This form encrypts all of your registration information, ensuring the security of your transaction.

Once PHP-Fusion has successfully registered your domain name, we will then provide four (4) DNS servers on which to set up and store your domain name.
With your domain registration, you will receive free email forwarding and free URL forwarding.
Email forwarding is an email address @ your domain name (e.g. me@domain.com) that automatically forwards to your existing email account.
URL forwarding allows you to forward your new domain name to your existing website.
You will be able to use our FREE DNS Services and our FREE Dynamic DNS Tool for Windows.

Your domain name is registered in your name.
So long as it has active DNS entries, all the required fees are paid and it's not in breach of any law, nobody else can either use it or take it without your consent.

You can add ID Protection if you own a domain that supports this.

Be very careful when registering your domain name. Once you purchase your domain, the order is non-refundable.

PHP-Fusion offers a huge list of country and alternate domains. From Albania to Yugoslavia, we list them all!
Visit our Hosting > Domains section for more information on registering specific country extensions (ccTLD's).

Once the registration process has been initiated it can't be canceled or re-funded, so choose your domains wisely.

You have the option of registering your domain name for 1-10 years. If you select 1 year, your name will be need to be renewed annually in order to remain valid.
If you select multiple years, your name will remain valid until that period is up.

No. Once a registration is complete, it is valid for the time frame specified in the purchase (1-10 years) and is non-refundable.

You will be sent an email notification 2 months prior and every month after that up until the expiration of your domain name.
You will also receive one final notice on the day that your domain name expires.
It is important that we are updated about any changes to your admin email address because this is where the notifications are sent.
To renew your domain names, simply visit the Client Portal page and click on your domain for options.

Transfers are generally completed within 2-3 days.

Within 3-14 days after the domain name expires the domain name will be removed from the name servers (DNS) which will interrupt any services such as Email, Website hosting, or URL Forwarding.
For certain registries, approximately 30 days after the domain name expires it will enter into a redemption period for approximately 30 days.
During the redemption period, you can still renew your domain name, but there is an additional redemption fee that vary a lot depending on extension.
If the domain name is not redeemed during the redemption period, the domain name will be deleted by the registry and made available for registration.

For certain registries, approximately 30 days after a domain name expires it goes into what is called the redemption period.
The redemption period lasts for approximately 30 days.
During this period the domain name can be redeemed by the original registrant for an extra fee that vary a lot depending on extension, the fee always includes a one year renewal.
If the domain name is not redeemed it will be deleted by the registry and made available for registration.

I requested the transfer 4 days ago. Why has my Domain name still not transferred?

In most cases, PHP-Fusion will receive a copy of your registry modification request and we are able to assist if you contact us first.
Please note that unless there's a discrepancy in the request, PHP-Fusion is not holding up your transfer.
For all domain names, the registrant or administrative contact has full control of the domain name and listed information.
At PHP-Fusion, we always list our client as both of these contacts to ensure your rightful ownership.
If you require our assistance, please contact us with full details (include your Domain name) and we will do our best to assist you.

You can change the DNS and/or A Records at any time by logging into your Account Login.
However, per ICANN regulations, you cannot change the Registrar for 60 days following a new registration.
After that time, you can request a transfer through the receiving Registrar and we will be notified of the move.

URL Forwarding allows you to redirect or 'point' your domain name to another location.
Most often, this is used if you own multiple domain names and want to 'point' them to the same website.
It is also useful for websites that use a free website hosting service, but want the convenience of a domain name.

When you register a domain name with PHP-Fusion, you will receive a free URL forwarding.
Once your registration is complete, you will be able to login to your account and setup your website forwarding address.
If you would like to setup URL forwarding for a domain name that you already own or would like to setup a cloaked URL forwarding account, please visit our Domain forwarding section in the Client Portal.

This is when the URL forwarding is most useful. You simply login to your account and update the URL that you want your domain name forwarded to.

A cloaked domain is similar to regular URL forwarding, except that your URL will never change in the address bar.
When you use cloaked URL forwarding, your domainname.com forwards to your actual URL, but yourdomain.com stays in the address bar.

You will need to make sure that you are using the full images paths (i.e. http:/www.phpfusion.com/images/mygif.gif rather than /images/mygif.gif).

The advantage of using meta tags with your cloaked URL is that you are providing search engines with information about your website when they visit your actual domain name. Meta tags are lines of code at the top of an html page that instruct search engines and give them information about your website.

Some basic meta tags include:

Your Site Title Here - This tells Search Engines what the name of your site is.
Often times, search engines use these titles for the title of your listing within their search results.

- This gives search engines an idea of what your site is about.
Often times, search engines use the description as the description of your listing within their search results.

- This gives search engines an idea of what your site is about.

It is highly recommended that you have the basic meta tags in place when you use a cloaked domain.
While these tags are not the sole source of information about your website, they are useful in helping some of the engines determine your placement.

If you currently have a web server for your site, we can point the Domain name to that server's IP address.
The domain name will remain on our servers and PHP-Fusion will continue to handle DNS and email forwarding for free.
To change the IP pointing, simply enter in the A-Record DNS information of your server or web host in your Client Portal.

NOTE : See PHP-Fusions Dynamic DNS Tool for a free auto IP updater.
